Welcome to Sperrin Integrated College.
As one of the founding teachers of Sperrin College and it’s second principal, I am very proud to lead our flourishing and thriving school.
Since our establishment in 2002, our school community has grown every year and we now educate in excess of 670 pupils. Our College motto ‘Pursuing Excellence Together’ reflects the aims of our founders who aspired to create an all-ability, co-educational, fully integrated school for all children in Magherafelt, Cookstown, and the surrounding towns and districts, regardless of religious belief, cultural identity or academic ability.
Staff, parents and pupils at Sperrin College are committed to working in partnership to ensure our school is a happy, caring and inclusive learning environment where everyone thrives.
The interlocking rings of our school logo, reflects the importance we place on interdependence, connectivity and cooperation. Every member of our school community develops a strong sense of pride in our integrated ethos, aiming to bring their skills and knowledge developed at Sperrin, beyond the classroom and into their communities. Our pupils, past and present, are making positive contributions to society and are helping shape the future of our province and beyond.
Sperrin Integrated College is a co-educational, all ability grant maintained integrated College located on the outskirts of Magherafelt attracting pupils from a wide catchment area, across the Mid Ulster Region and beyond. To the North of Magherafelt, the College educates pupils from Maghera, Tobermore, Knockloughrim, Bellaghy, Tamlagh O’ Crilly, Kilrea and surrounding areas. To the South, the school serves a wide geographic area from Moneymore, Cookstown, the Loup, Coagh and Lissan. To the East pupils travel from Toome, Randalstown and Antrim Town and Districts.
As an integrated school Sperrin, strives to promote equality of opportunity for all pupils, a desire for learning and encourage partnerships with parents, to ensure all pupils reach their full potential. The approach to learning focusses on pupils developing the necessary dispositions required to pursue educational excellence.
Our aim is to provide the highest quality learning and teaching experience by providing pupils with the qualifications, skills and personal dispositions to progress onto third level education, vocational study or the world of work.
I hope you enjoy the website which offers you a flavour of our College life and provides you with the information you require, however, should you seek any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
